The William Grant Foundation’s vision is a Scotland where everyone has the opportunity to thrive William Grant & Sons has always taken a long-term view to support its people, its communities and its business. Building on a long tradition of supporting community groups and charities, the company now sets aside 1% of pre-tax profits each year for use by the William Grant Foundation.
The Foundation is committed to a future where everyone in Scotland has the opportunity to thrive, a belief that is deeply rooted in the core values shared by the William Grant family and the company.
The Foundation aims to:
• Ensure greater opportunities for those who are disadvantaged
• Strengthen the local communities in which the company operates
• Improve Scotland’s natural and built environment
• Sustain the unique culture and heritage of Scotland
Although most of its work is in Scotland, the Foundation also partners with William Grant & Sons employees around the world to support the causes they care about. This includes matching funds they raise for – or donate to – their own chosen charities and making donations to reflect any time they volunteer in their communities. The Foundation also provides funds for our Local Giving scheme which supports good causes close to our company locations.
William Grant were managing their grants on an excel workbook which had worked well for them, but as the foundation grew larger and grants were becoming more complex they needed a more robust platform to record grantees, family member groups and sub groups.
The foundation has a large group of family members who sit in interest groups and make decisions on projects to fund based on these groups.
The Foundation needed to add any emails, calls and files to the records so they had a complete overview of the grant easily accessible to them.
With Salesforce the chosen platform, we installed NPSP and our own accelerator grantFlex, this enabled a quick start for some out of the box grant making features. As the Foundation funds grants out of the pre tax profits, they need to know what they have committed to funding each year, to accomplish this we added a planned status, so that they could see easily, at a glance how much each fund had at each status.
